Hey!

We had our first meeting of the new term. I am the new president since Kit has graduated and moved to So. Cal. We wish her the best and miss her.

Anyway, the GSA will be taking a bit of a new turn this term. We will be exploring things that we don't understand. Today was a day for us to think about what we want to do until school gets out, and we came up with a list of topics we want to discuss:

*How different countries worldwide address sexuality
*self-mutilation
*Is it possible to influence others' sexuality? How fluid IS sexuality?
*living with gay parents
*homosexuality in the work place
*homosexuality in the boy/girlscouts
*good book day
*day of silence - plans
*The Harvey Milk School - would you want to go to an all-gay school?

and I'm sure the list will grow. Also, the GSA is seriously considering doing the SF AIDS walk this summer as a club and fundraising on campus. I think it will be more successful than our AIDS project last year, and will be a positive experience for the walkers. It was suggested that we have an AIDS walk at Granada, but I'm not sure if we can do that because it talkes several months to plan something like that, tons of faculty support, and frankly more organization than what the club has. We could line up with Club Infinity and Interact, but even then, it could be out of reach. Dani, the new vice president, and I will probably have a meeting with the Princible to discuss any fundraisers for AIDS soon, whether it be for an on-campus walk or the SF AIDS walk.

love!

Our meetings will continue next week, have no fear : ). On a side note, our dear president, Kit, will be leaving soon and moving down south. I will be taking her place as president, and sessions will proceed as usual.

I'm sorry everybody, eventhough no one reads this anyway, but I've been very busy and not very good about updating.

Transgender rememberance day was last week, and it went very well. We handed out carnations with tags talking about T.M.D on them, as well as names of Transgenders who have been murdered for expressing their true identity. I wasn't present, but I hear it was a success. This week we discussed the events of last week, how people handled questions about the memorial day, and the idea of handing out balloons on the day of silence. Copyright that idea. Anyway, next week's topic is suicide, so everybody needs to remember to bring tissues and chocolate.

Hello! Is anybody out there?

Hopefully once the ball gets rolling with GSA, this site will be more helpfull. I will try to update the community after each weekly meeting for those of you who were unable to make it, and I will also post announcements for upcoming events that our club is involved with. I'm also hoping that this will be a good way for our club to communicate with one another outside of room 510.

Anyway, we had our second meeting  today. Our agenda included looking at new articals that our loverly president, Kit, brought in for us on LGBT student rights and GSA rights. We also started making a buddy system, which is actually quite nifty. It's basically two people who can call/e-mail each other if they're having problems and need confidencial support. We aren't quite done making buddies, but we will take care of that next Monday.

In the meantime, Kit, Julia, and I will be meeting and taking care of the constitution so that we can once again be an official club. If the constitution isn't renewed anually, we aren't considered an organization. No worries though, it will happen.

And on a final note, here are this year's officers:

President: Kit
Vice President: Aubrey (me)
Secretary: Julia
Treasurer: Adriana
Activities Director: Sierra

Hello all, and welcome to Granada High's GSA community! The community will be up and running soon, but will also probably be dead over the summer.

You all are also welcome to post here about anything GSA-related, including stuff about your own lives. This community is built to work just like our club at Granada: to be a  healthy and active place for us to keep in contact and be supportive.

Love,
Aubrey
